Fernando Garcia (they/them/he) is an artist and art educator based in Los Angeles, ancestral and unceded territory of the Gabrielino/Tongva peoples and the Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians. Fernando is an immigrant to these lands from the Zapotec Community of the Sierra Norte region of Oaxaca, Mexico. Fernando has been a student of photography for almost 20 years, and their work has since expanded to include performance, painting, and the written word. Amongst their most recent projects is Nosotrés Polaroids, environmental portraits of those in and around Fernando’s communities, always with two portraits, one for those in the photograph and one for the new community of photographs being created.
