About the Film
Kumbia Net: Un Estilo Bien Diferente
Alvaro Parra, 2024, Mexico and United States, 75 min.
Travelling between Mexico and the U.S. to hear the stories behind the creation of the kumbia obscura genre, Kumbia Net: Un Estilo Bien Diferente foregrounds the architects of the sound: Turbo Sonidero, El Cifickzer, Satanico Dr. Truza, Amantes Del Futuro, and many others. The roots of Kumbia Net are on full display as the influence and impact of Mexican Sound System culture, and the sonic timbres of electronic music reverberate on the screen.
