Summer Art Camp: Drawing Like a Scientist (Ages 9–12)

Explore art from the perspective of the life sciences. We'll observe nature on LACMA's campus using binoculars, maps, compasses, and field notebooks and examine nature-themed work in the museum’s collection, then focus on our drawing skills by practicing some of the rigorous techniques used by science illustrators throughout the ages. All levels are welcome. Taught by artist and wildlife biologist Stacey Vigallon.

LACMA Family Tours

Join a LACMA docent for a 30-minute, interactive family tour of outdoor sculptures and highlights from our Modern Art Galleries. These tours meet outdoors on the Resnick Terrace. Museum admission is required.

Summer Art Camp: Art That Moves (Ages 6–8)

Inspired by sculptures like Three Quintains (Hello Girls) by Alexander Calder, this class explores the exciting world of kinetic art—art that moves! Using paper, paper clips, scissors, and glue sticks, we'll experiment with color, balance, and abstract shapes as we design and build our own kinetic sculptures. Through playful making and discovery, we'll see how simple materials can create artworks that balance, spin, sway, and dance in the air. Taught by artist Maggie Latorre.
