Join us to hear from teachers and students at John Marshall High School, along with staff at Boyle Heights Arts Conservatory, about how they worked together to create a mural at Marshall HS that celebrates Armenian culture. This event takes place on Zoom.

Inspired by nature and artist Ruth Asawa’s sculptures, you will learn how to transform 2D materials into dynamic 3D sculptures.

Artist Zheng Chongbin will lead this free hands-on assemblage workshop made for an intergenerational audience where participants will engage with themes of light, movement, and natural landscapes to create their own layered and textured original works of art inspired by California’s landscape and Chongbin’s exhibition Zheng Chongbin: Golden State.

This workshop will take place outdoors on Sunday, September 14.

Pianist, vocalist, and composer Alexis Lombre has toured Canada, Brazil, France, South Africa, and the U.S. with artists such as Jon Batiste, Terrace Martin, Ledisi, Keyon Harrold, Marcus Miller, and the Miles Davis Electric Band. Lombre was awarded the inaugural 2022 New Music Next Jazz Legacy Award and 2023 Luminarts Award.
