Teachers, introduce your classroom to the Maya, Aztec, and Inka world through LACMA’s mobile classroom!
The Maya Mobile—a 48-foot truck outfitted as an archaeological site—travels to schools and provides students with the rare opportunity for hands-on examination of objects from the museum’s collection. Using close looking and the rare opportunity for hands-on examination of objects that are hundreds of years old, students learn how to handle these objects as primary source material as they explore, examine, and learn about Maya, Aztec, and Inka trade and cultural development.
The program is intended for seventh-grade classrooms in Los Angeles County public schools and is designed to integrate with the seventh-grade curriculum and the state standards for history/social science.
This program is supported by a generous grant from the Maxwell H. Gluck Foundation.
