LACMA and the Los Angeles Jazz Society are pleased to present the 16th annual L.A. Jazz Treasure Award to drummer, composer, and educator Roy McCurdy. McCurdy's historic six-decade career has included long-term collaborations with Cannonball Adderley, Nancy Wilson, Sonny Rollins, and Sarah Vaughan. Other notable recordings include projects with Benny Golson, Kenny Rankin, Betty Carter, and Blood, Sweat & Tears. McCurdy has given back to the jazz community as a longtime professor at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music and Pasadena Conservatory of Music.
