Dancing Light: Figure Drawing Workshop Inspired by Impressionism and Ballet

Step into the world of Impressionism and engage with movement, light, and shadow. At this two-hour workshop for adults led by teaching artist Shannon Green, you will explore how artists like Edgar Degas captured rhythm, grace, and fleeting motion as you sketch ballet dancer Ishaun Jackson-Moaney in the galleries of Collecting Impressionism at LACMA. Materials will be provided.
Shannon Green (he/him) is an illustrator, painter, and color designer who loves teaching art to both children and adults. He is the founder of The Cool School Los Angeles and has been a teaching artist at LACMA since 2004. Shannon’s experience teaching includes residencies at various public, private, and charter schools, and as faculty at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
Ishaun Jackson-Moaney (she/her) is an artist who moves through the worlds of dance, fashion, and music. Raised in Los Angeles, she began her training at the Lula Washington Dance Theatre and Align Ballet Method while attending the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. She earned scholarships to study at the Debbie Allen Dance Academy, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet training programs.
Full refunds will only be granted if the art class is canceled by LACMA. Please notify us immediately if a student is unable to attend so that another student on our waiting list can attend class. A refund equal to half of tuition paid will be granted for cancellations made three weeks before the class start date. No refunds will be made for cancellations made less than three weeks prior to the class start date. Please visit LACMA's FAQ page for our refund policy.
