Presented in conjunction with Realms of the Dharma: Buddhist Art Across Asia, San Francisco–based artist and filmmaker Tenzin Phuntsog’s Next Life (2026) tells the story of a Tibetan family seeking moments of “temporary happiness” while living in exile in suburban America. As their father suffers from a mysterious inner pain, they turn to Buddhist medicine and spiritual teachings on death and rebirth, embracing the Tibetan concept of "Tse Chema" (reincarnation).
Before the film screening, we'll present Phuntsog's latest short film Aurus. Afterwards, celebrate Tibetan Buddhist culture with pulse readings from Tibetan doctors with chants and prayers from Tibetan monks.
