Channel the Parisian café culture of the exhibition Collecting Impressionism at LACMA and learn or practice the game of kings under the guidance of instructors from En Passant. All levels are welcome, so whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned enthusiast, come join other chess lovers and explore how art and play overlap.
This program takes place outdoors on the Smidt Welcome Plaza, where instructors will spend the first hour guiding those who want to learn the basics. The rest of the session will focus on open play. Guided learning is optional, and visitors are encouraged to come and play for as long as they like. This is a free, drop-in session that doesn't include access to exhibitions.
