Spend your Saturday evenings with world-renowned artists performing everything from Indigenous music to the latest sounds from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, and Los Angeles! These free concerts are presented Saturday evenings from Memorial Day weekend in May to Labor Day weekend in September. This week, join us for a concert with Son Mayor.
After making their debut in 1988, Son Mayor continues to bring their captivating vintage and contemporary Cuban sound to dancers and listeners alike. Led by the Ortiz brothers—Eddie, Julian, Alfred “El Niño,” and Georgie—the band features a blend of powerful horns, brass, and percussion. From humble beginnings, this musical family has made Son Mayor one of L.A.’s most sought-after salsa bands, opening for and playing alongside such greats as Chucho Valdez at the Hollywood Bowl, Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Los Van Van, and Ozomatli.
