Information that we may collect from You includes Your name (first and last name), email address, postal address, phone number, and payment information.  Personal information may be provided to LACMA by You in various ways, including museum membership applications or renewals, emails to LACMA, completion of LACMA-generated surveys (digital and printed), purchases at the LACMA store and ticket office, donations to LACMA, participation in LACMA programming, requests to join LACMA’s mailing lists, and other transactions that may occur between You and LACMA. LACMA ensures that the collection, management and storage of any personal information provided by You to the museum will be completed in accordance with all applicable legal requirements.

How LACMA Uses Information LACMA Collects From You

LACMA uses information collected from You to personalize its websites to better suit the needs of its online guests; to provide its services to its visitors, members, donors, and other guests (e.g., ticketing, membership, programming, events and other activities); to comply with applicable legal requirements; to contact You regarding the museum, its services and third party organizations that may be of your interest; and to enhance the museum’s information security and resolve reported issues. LACMA may also use this information to contact You about museum programming, events, activities, fundraising and membership opportunities.

LACMA may share Your personal information with third parties for the same purposes, and the third parties will only be permitted to use Your personal information as instructed by LACMA. LACMA will never share with third parties who are not service providers to the museum any financial information You provide when purchasing a membership or making a donation. However, the museum may aggregate personal information so that such information is no longer identifiable with an individual. LACMA will use such aggregated information for any purposes in connection with its nonprofit mission, and such aggregated information will not be considered personal information. If You would prefer to not have Your information shared in this way, please send an email message containing Your name and postal address to @email. More information about opting-out from receiving emails and/or other messages from LACMA can be found under LACMA Email, Text Message and Phone Call Policy.

LACMA uses technology known as “cookies” to authenticate users, track usage patterns, traffic trends and user behavior, as well as to record other information from the websites and/or platforms. For certain services provided on LACMA’s websites and other LACMA platforms, cookies allow the museum to save information locally so that users do not have to re-enter the information the next time they visit the websites and/or platforms. Additionally, certain “cookies” are strictly necessary for the websites’ and/or platforms’ functioning. The information the museum collects will only be used in the aggregate to make content adjustments and other customer service improvements. LACMA contracts with third party vendors for services that require the sharing of non-personally identifiable information collected with cookies.

LACMA follows industry standard for information security. All credit card information submitted to LACMA will be encrypted using "Secure Sockets Layer" (SSL) software, so it cannot be read as the information travels over the Internet. LACMA will retain Your membership information for its records. LACMA engages third parties to process all transactions conducted on the websites and at LACMA’s facilities. Such third parties have represented to the museum that LACMA, its patrons and customers are protected by security features, including encryption and tokenization, designed to prevent the unauthorized release of your personal financial data. Such third parties have further represented to the museum that all credit card information complies with current PCI standards and will be tokenized and held on third party sites.

Although LACMA endeavors to create secure and reliable websites, the confidentiality of any communication or material transmitted to or from the websites over the Internet cannot be guaranteed. You assume the sole and complete risk of using the websites, and You must make your own independent determination of the foregoing. LACMA is only responsible for information after receipt and while in the museum’s custody.

Information collected by LACMA will be processed and stored where the museum’s service providers are located. Your information may be processed outside of your country and/or state of residence. Your information will be subject to the policies and procedures of these service providers.

Use of these images by You is prohibited unless specifically permitted by such third parties.

ii. LACMA expressly prohibits the use, downloading, copying, display, publication, distribution, transmission, modification, reposting or exploitation for commercial or public purposes of the Protected Content, except for the limited purposes described above.
