Artificial Society / Collective Tamagotchi
Agnieszka Kurant

Agnieszka Kurant is developing a group of shape-shifting sculptural organisms, algorithmically controlled by a collective intelligence of users from around the world. The participants’ data and live inputs will be harvested by artificial intelligence neural networks to create an ecosystem of evolving, polyphonic forms, alternately natural and artificial, living and not, biological, geological and algorithmic. Kurant’s project is called Artificial Society / Collective Tamagotchi.

About the Artist

Conceptual artist, Agnieszka Kurant explores how complex social, economic and ecological systems can operate in ways that confuse distinctions between fiction and reality or nature and culture. Probing collective intelligence, non-human intelligences (Artificial Intelligence, animal and microbial intelligence) and the exploitations of social capital under surveillance capitalism, the artist examines the transformations of the human and the future of labour and creativity in the 21st century.
