Three works dating to 1513–14 are singled out as the crowning achievements of Albrecht Dürer’s illustrious career as an engraver: Knight, Death and the Devil; Melencolia I; and Saint Jerome in his Study. Closely related in size and complexity of execution, these three prints are known as Dürer’s Master Engravings. Victoriana

El período victoriano (1837-1901) —junto con los principios de la era romántica y los finales de la era eduardiana— ha sido una fuente abundante de inspiración visual y narrativa. Además, el cineasta está atento a las interpretaciones posteriores de la literatura victoriana, desde la Casa Embrujada de Disneyland, la cual abrió sus puertas en 1969, hasta steampunk, un subgénero de ciencia ficción que evoca la estética del siglo XIX.
